BIO:
Marcus Smolensky holds degrees in music performance from the Eastman School of Music, the Cleveland Institute of Music and Rutgers University. A former member of the Rochester Philharmonic, Syracuse Symphony and Harrisburg Symphony, Dr. Smolensky has been the featured soloist with the Valley Symphony (Edinburg, TX), the Martinu Philharmonic (Czech Republic), Central Pennsylvania Symphony (Hershey, PA), Genesee Symphony (Batavia, NY), the Lowell Philharmonic (Lowell, MA), and the University Circle Chamber Orchestra (Cleveland, OH). He is also a founding member of the Metta String Quartet. Dr. Smolensky is currently a faculty member at Bucknell and Susquehanna Universities, where he teaches violin and viola. Previous teaching appointments include Lebanon Valley College, Penn State University and the University of Texas – Pan American. A dedicated and experienced teacher, Dr. Smolensky provides individual instruction that blends many schools of violin and viola playing. He embraces a teaching style that recognizes the individuality of each student and customizes a curriculum to fit their needs.
